We originally designed a USBDMX interface around the begining of 2005 and published it as a DIY project over at USBDMX.COM
This proved very popular with thousands of people viewing the instructions and building the interface for themselves. Since that original design many people wanted a ready built version for commerical use and so we improved on the design.
Around the same time we had just launched our first version of Chameleon Lighting Software for Mac OS/X over at maclightingsoftware.com and so we made a beautiful black anodised extruded aluminium case and branded the interface as the Chameleon USB DMX Interface.
This is the full commerical version of the interface ready built with a years warranty, and avaliable as a 5 pin or 3 pin version.
